Boxers are pretty amazing - playful, energetic and definitely a handful (in a good way of course :)). Known to be extremely loyal, after a friendship is built with a boxer it truly lasts forever.
If you are a new boxer owner, you should be aware that they require considerable attention and training. The boxer's high intelligence can work to your advantage when it comes to training, but it can also be disadvantageous - especially if they use their smarts to get what they want.
Training a boxer usually begins with teaching them to be guard dogs, as this is what they are bred to do. However, people who don't know boxers assume that they are naturally aggressive when they are in fact quite the opposite, and tend to play as hard as any other dog!
Because of their intelligence Boxers can be very stubborn. There will be times when you tell him to do something and he's going to look you in the face and basically tell you where to go. He knows he is supposed to do it, but he decides he can't be bothered and doesn't. Just be patient and he'll eventually get it.
From as early as 6 weeks old you should start your boxer dog training. This will help him when he grows up. Socialize him, play with him and teach him, and do it in an exciting way - that way he will be more likely to listen.
Socialization is very important. Boxers can be very friendly dogs if they are trained with that in mind. They need to get accustomed to other dogs and people. The best way to do this is with training classes so your boxer will be trained alongside other dogs.
When your boxer reaches 13-16 weeks old it's time for some serious boxer dog training. This is when he will try to show his dominance. He will nip and stubbornly avoid listening to you. You have to be a strong leader at this time, you must show him that him acting like that will not be tolerated no matter what!
Boxers are genuinely a lovable family dog and would make a proud pet for anyone. They are dogs that prefer to sit on you lap for a cuddle than anything else. Train your boxer early with some serious boxer dog training and you can be assured you will have a stunning, loyal family friend!

Should You Worry About The Quality Of Your Dog Food?
You should be careful in feeding your dog. There are many pet foods now that don't have sufficient nutrients that measure up to what your pet needs. You have to remember that dog is an omnivore, which means it also eats food for nourishment.
The corn just passes thru the dog or cats system just for you to be able to clean it up. Dogs love to eat meat and vegetables because they are omnivorous. Cats are carnivores, and require different diets.
Dogs that are fed table scraps as well as foods you cook up at home have a tendency to over eat on the fats portion of their diet and usually miss out on a lot of nutrition they need. You see, dogs are from the wolf family and are omnivores.
Always take care that you do not make any abrupt changes in your pet diet. You must take care to do it very slowly over a period of time. Thus you will avoid causing any gastrointestinal upsets. Unlike you and I, Dogs can go for months or years with any diet change.
A lot of pet owners tend to forget that their animals need good food which will include veggies, grains, protein and fats. You must know then that dry foods with very excellent ingredients are good also.
While you are able to feed a quality dog food, and have your dog loving it, you really must take care when making changes, do not do it too quickly in order to avoid problems.
When you think about it, your dog is at your mercy as far as his diet is concerned, he has no choice but to eat what you dish out to him. Giving your dog a good natural dog food with full of nutrients your pet will be as healthy and happy as can be.
If you really look closely you will discover that most products used for your dog food are mostly unfit for human consumption. Most are air dried in order to reduce the moisture which will help to prevent bacteria from growing in the food.
You are going to discover a lot of variances in the nutritional ingredients of meat, poultry and fish by products from batch to batch the labels list the stuff therein but provide no definitions as to quality.
All these components of the dog food consist generally by the production of the meat, poultry and fishing industry with the wide variety of nutrients composition.
